CurlyNikki interviews Andrea Bordeaux
Hey Peeps!
Its been a while since I have discussed my natural hair :-0 Its probably because I have not been taking care of it like I should. This article is great on the link below.. Idk who this chic is.. but it describes a lot of the stages in growing your natural hair. My newest challenge. SINGLE STRAND KNOTS!!! Unfortunately with my schedule recently I went tooo long without washing my hair and it was SOOOO tangled. I need to get it together.. or my hair is not going to grow :0 I need hopsital hair ideas.. prob need some professional help too.. But funds are low.. clearly.. refer to prior posts on vacays.

Ten Things they do not tell you when you go natural
1) It takes work
2) Good hair products are expensive
3) The big chop is hard... but WORTH IT.
4) Men are scared by the short hair... but when it grows.. they love it.
5) The short phase is so much fun!! Low upkeep.
6) It grows fast.
7) Black people have a harder time adjusting to you being natural.. why? no clue.
8) Family can be the last to except it..
9) And to your permed friends.. respond.. yeah it may be a fad.. but i love it.. and keep it moving.
10) TRULY LEARN TO LOVE YOU! its all about learning every aspect of yourself including your curl. And no longer conforming to the social contructs of beautiful that have been enslaved into our heads for centuries.
What inspired u to go natural? Reading the autobiography of malcolm x is what planted my seed :-)
Romans 12: 2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
any stories about your hair..? or discovering your inner beauty?? let me know! You can be a guest on my blog :-0

I dream of a bun!!!!
Many girls dream of their wedding days and what it will be like. Guess what. I only have one hope... I want a beautiful bun with a flower in it. :-)
Seriously. I don't care who the guy is, how big the day is, what the dress looks like.. i just want my pretty eva longoria, beyonce looking bun on the side. This is the key point ... I want my natural hair to be long enough where I do not have to press it and can brush it into a bun.
THIS IS WHY I AM WORKING ON MY REGIMEN!!! I also significantly trimmed my hair this weekend. With real hair scissors.
This past weekend I went to WHOLE FOODS which has a great hair care section. FYI. Here are some of the natural hair products I grabbed. They also have a return policy that is amazing. Try it. Unhappy. Return it and full money back.
This shampoo is great for your scalp! Feels good and is refreshing. price $10
This lavender conditioner smells great and is what I use to comb my hair out.
I only use this shampoo every other month. Or if I feel like my hair has some product build up.
I purchased this conditioner as my deep conditioner. I sit under the dryer with this one. A FAVORITE.
Jojoba oil. I apply directly to my scalp.
Expensive. This bottle is atleast $30 dollars. I still use it.
My hair gets really tangled. I love what this shampoo does for my hair.

to my naturalnistas... like fashionistas :-)
Today I have decided to start a hair regimen!
What is this you may ask?? Its a plan that u have for your hair every week. Shampoo, conditioner, daily moisturizer, deep conditioner, oils.. etc etc.
I was inspired by another great blog called moptopmaven. http://moptopmaven.blogspot.com/
This young lady has encouraged all the natural chics out there to really step it up and take care of their hair.
WELLL I am right with her. Today I decided everytime I wash my hair I am going to deep condition it! No matter what. I want long healthy thick locks of kinkiness. :-) I think I am well on my way but I need to step it up.
Today I used the Miss Jessie's Best Darn Conditioner and sat under the dryer for 10 minutes.
This week I will be buying another bottle of jojoba oil which is great for my hair. Keeps it moist and looking great.
The biggest challenge lately has been styling while on this surgery rotation. 4:15am is just not the best time to think about style and moisture.
IF YOU ARE NATURAL!!! START THINKING ABOUT A REGIMEN!! A recipe for growth, moisture and healthy hair.
Here are some lovely pics to inspire you :-)

Holiday Hair part 2
Hello Friends,
Well I hate to say this... But the spiral curls did not last. By day 4 I looked CRAZY. I have pics. No worries. My hair type is very tight naturally and eventually it reverts back to its tight natural state.
My best friend Asherah again came to the rescue. She decided to intervene. I was thinking that maybe I should wash my hair again. Thank goodness I didn't. Washing natural hair and combing it out can be a chore.
We decided to comb out what was left of my curls with a spray bottle and a comb. After combing out each section we put plats in my hair. "Old school, granny lookin' plats." I slept in these braids (plats) and took them out in the morning.
DISCLAIMER: All photos were taken by me. on my iphone! Better blog pics coming soon.
What happened??? I know....

spiral curls for the young and fly
I thought I would make a quick post about my Holiday Hair. Stayed up late last night to get my Christmas Eve look together :-)
I am trying new things all the time with my hair. I have been natural for a little over a year now and I am going to try some new things over the Holidays. Wish me luck. This stuff is kinky and tight! I love my hair though :-)
Here are a few pics of my flexi rod set. I washed my hair with some random shampoo and conditioner. I used Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding to set my hair with some flexi rods. Sat under the dryer forever...I think next time I might try perm rods. I think it came out cute :-) Let me know what u think!
BEFORE
My hair shrinks a lot when it is wet. Tight to my head!!
HALF WAY
I scared my mom in her sleep when I asked for the hooded dryer...
If you have any hair ideas for Christmas.. Let me know! Add it to my comments!!!
Merry Christmas!!!!!
