What meant style to me at 18.. even 21... is totally different then as a twenty something. I used to buy a new pair of jeans weekly. I have not purchased one pair of jeans in over a year.  

Now that I am all grown and sophisticated I definitely appreciate a good handbag. A very close family member of mine LOVES handbags... hence the following photos.  After searching in the closet of my mother I found a few great handbags to INSPIRE THE DIVA IN YOU!!!

Holiday Hair part 2

Hello Friends,

Well I hate to say this... But the spiral curls did not last. By day 4 I looked CRAZY. I have pics. No worries. My hair type is very tight naturally and eventually it reverts back to its tight natural state.

My best friend Asherah again came to the rescue. She decided to intervene. I was thinking that maybe I should wash my hair again. Thank goodness I didn't. Washing natural hair and combing it out can be a chore.
We decided to comb out what was left of my curls with a spray bottle and a comb. After combing out each section we put plats in my hair. "Old school, granny lookin' plats."  I slept in these braids (plats) and took them out in the morning.

internet dating... whats the verdict?? part 1

Hi friends! Yes I am here to talk about internet dating.

This is a long time coming...  I have met quite a few people who have met nice gentleman on match.com.. a classmate, my roommate in gboro last month.. the list goes on. A month ago I had this grand idea that me and my Bible study crew minus the married and almost married would join match.com in the spring when we were all in Charlotte for our rotations.

Well I had an eager member of the crew that couldn't hold out. We decided after our internal medicine shelf last week to join ok cupid.com because its free.  At first my pride was saying.. "you are too fly for this" and "no worries.. you'll meet him by chance"  But after 6 months without a date or even a flirtatious hello I decided to take matters into my own hands. A few dates could be fun :-)

Ladies if you can get through the pics of guys in wife beaters, half naked, and just straight up looking STUPID...
AND get past the ones with CRAZY screen names like...  eyeamhot, rockureworld and yourloverman
AND get past the ones who send u messages like... "YO"   .........  
AND get past computer love. yep for my unc girls! got a message from him too.

I think there might be a few hopefuls out there. and Christian brothers too!

So far I must say it has been kinda fun.. The good and the bad. The unexpected message with a nice compliment and the the silly ones that make u laugh out loud while in the grocery store. One friend has a date planned and my internet dating game like my real game is a work in progress. lol. no dates yet.

January 1 we are going to step it up and join eharmony. Let me know if you're with us!

I thought I would make a quick post about my Holiday Hair. Stayed up late last night to get my Christmas Eve look together :-)

I am trying new things all the time with my hair. I have been natural for a little over a year now and I am going to try some new things over the Holidays. Wish me luck. This stuff is kinky and tight! I love my hair though :-)

Here are a few pics of my flexi rod set. I washed my hair with some random shampoo and conditioner. I used Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding to set my hair with some flexi rods. Sat under the dryer forever...I think next time I might try perm rods. I think it came out cute :-)   Let me know what u think!

dating at 25??

The day in the life of an almost 25 year old woman..

Yesterday I woke up for an innocent day of shopping with my mother.. to later find myself approached by a bold gentleman in best buy. Mr. Best Buy dramatically stops what he is doing as i walk by.. he later boldly approaches me saying,
BB: "When are u going to let me take you out."
me:  Laughing at him
BB: seriously.. u're beautiful. How old are u?
me: 25 (fudging the age by 6 months.. lol)
BB: What is the oldest guy u have dated
me: 28... (again a minor fudge)
BB: Line of the day.. " Oh baby u need to stop dating boys and start dating men!"
me: in my head. THIS MAN IS BOLD. who is he. lol.
me: I say well i dont know u.. What do u do for a living?
BB: U know thats an ATL gold digger question.
me: excuse me. I'm going to be a doctor. no reason to dig for gold.

So later on this man goes on to tell me over the phone how he is so surprised I have not dated an older man. I mean whats the hype i say. I  AM 25. He goes on and on about how he is ready for a woman in his life. Did i mention he was 35! poor guy. He just knew i was the one. lol. Well... Long story short.. he talked a good game. wanted me and my friend to meet him and his friends on the other side of town for drinks. Later when his friends ditched him alledgedly and we suggested coming to our side of town... his game fell apart. We were too far away. LOL. The MAN quickly reverted to the little boy ways he soooo adamantly told me i have been dealing with. then told me i was acting like a 25 year old! LOL. which i am! thanks!

So ladies... Question of the day.
How old is too old?
And does age equal maturity??

And why was this man so frequently reminding me he was a MAN...
overcompensating by chance??
And whats up with these men asking for pictures through text messages?? WEIRD.

whats on the menu?? not much apparently....

Well I have reached my mid twenties and my culinary skills are sub par to say the least. I have made it pretty close to the age of 25 on the stir fry, chicken breast and sweet potato diet.

The days of limited dinner options are coming to an end. I have decided to slowly but surely up the ante and step my skiils up. I used to think well... I am going to be the family doc so if I cannot throw down on mac and cheese for thanksgiving nobody will be mad right??  wrong.

Whatever. I am a grown woman and its time to get with the program. I will be enjoying more delicious meals in the year of the 25. Starting with my new cookbook!  Last night me and my homie Sophia made broiled shrimp po boys! It was delicious. fire alarm went of three times but it was fun. Most folks know I was born in New Orleans and LOVE the food.. which is often deep fried and full of calories. This healthier option hit the spot. Instead of frying your shrimp try broiling the shrimp in bread crumbs! Quick and delicious.

We had so much fun! This is the life. Post internal medicine shelf exam life.

Of course I am back again with another attempt to create a fun blog. Like so many of my friends I am reaching the pentacle age of 25 :-) I have realized that I work too hard and these are important years. I cannot let my twenties past me by and all my days were spent studying. Medical school is great but there is so much more out there for me to enjoy and explore!! This blog will be dedicated to all the fun, random and amazing things that I will explore in the year of 2011.

25. here i come. Single. Sexy. Smart. And ready to enjoy the wonderful age of 25.

This blog will be carefree and random. I'm preparing myself slowly for my future book deal and documentary on health in black america. (If Solidad Obrian doesnt beat me to it)
